And a bemused Peter Venkman, looking on. And Egon's facial expression is hilarious.

And...
This was my favourite panel in the whole comic, so far! Nevermind that Janine actually had a boyfriend who wasn't Spengs when that happened. Poor Roger... *shakes head*

Date: 2014-08-08 02:40 am (UTC)I am SO upset it's ending in September with the end of the Mass Hysteria storyline (with a further 4 issues after that that will be a crossover with TMNT but will canonically be a continuation of the Ghostbusters Ongoing, apparently?). Erik Burnham has hinted that they may do a Volume 3, eventually, but it's depending certain things that they are cryptic about, aside from clearing up that it wasn't poor sales. So he, Schoening and Delgado are basically "on call" in case IDW decides to go forward with a Volume 3.
I kind of prefer how they retconned EGB to EGB itself, lol. And I LOVE Roger, poor Roger, he was so heartbroken. But he's a good guy and he wuvs Janine!
I'm also more into the movie-verse than into the cartoons, so this comic series makes me ridiculously happy. ;) But I do like the tie-ins!

Date: 2014-08-08 02:48 am (UTC)Me, I'm a HUUUUUGE fan of....well, one look at my icon should tell you who. And what pleases me is that RGB!Peter is his own character in the IDW series as well. He makes a cameo as a guest at a Hallowe'en party, just before the actual Ghostbusters show up.
If EGB's Egon is Roger, I wonder what this little fellow's name is! :)

Date: 2014-08-08 03:12 am (UTC)I was re-reading that Halloween one-shot and noticed RGB!Venky in it. Him, Janine (the FIRST Janine) and Winston have the only character designs I can stand, in that series, which is my main problem with RGB, Egon's and Ray's designs annoy me, lol. But I love the voices. The IDW designs, I love to pieces, though.
LOL, I've had the hots for Egon (and Harold Ramis, by extension, may he RIP) since childhood. But I'm still getting all squeeful to see any incarnation of the guy getting with Janine, even if it's Roger/EGB!Egon. ;)

Date: 2014-08-08 03:18 am (UTC)RGB was a fun little show. Well, the first 78 episodes were at least. I refuse to acknowledge what the producers dubbed "Real Ghostbusters II". The changes and voices were horrible, and poor Peter and Janine got completely renovated.
As for Egon's RGB design, I could never wrap my mind around his hair. My friend Gabi designed him though, and she shed a little light on that one. She said when initially drawing Egon, she put a spring on his head because she thought it was funny. The show's director thought so too, and let her get away with it! XD

Date: 2014-08-08 03:47 am (UTC)Compared to a lot of cartoons of the time (and since), it was well-written, and very plot-driven.
Well, the more you know, LOL! I get the choices of styles, so that all four guys are easily distinguishable from each other, though. I mean, that was one of the major gripes a lot of readers had about the pre-ongoing IDW comics, it was hard to tell the three white boys apart (if Egon wasn't wearing his glasses).

Date: 2014-08-09 02:28 pm (UTC)I'm partial to Futurama (Fry/Leela 4ever!), which has been cancelled again. :( And if I really want to pee my pants laughing, I watch some American Dad.

Date: 2014-08-09 02:40 pm (UTC)I never got into American Dad. Gabi works on the show as a lip synch director and when she told me that, I tried watching it again, but it's never been my thing. :)
