Today was back to work...

serendipity8791Someone who was on sick leave for several months came back while I was on vacation and, since I had been moved to his old desk, was using my computer, while waiting for IT to find him a new machine.
Two problems arose from this. The IT boys (because all three of them are actually male), clean forgot about him needing his own machine. And then, because they apparently somehow could not get his email to be re-installed in Outlook, they installed a newer version of the Microsoft Office suite onto my machine.
I spent the first hour and a half trying to find my bearings and where all the things I needed to use in order to do my job were in Excel.
*headdesk*
The rest of the day went by pretty fast, after I had figured out how to do everything in his shiny, but evil new version of Excel.
Oh, and, fail on the fact that Toronto don't believe themselves to be indispensable, even on a movable holiday like Family Day. I don't have a working phone line. It's good that I don't need the phone much, usually, to do my job. But since only Toronto can re-activate a deactivated phone jack, it would have sucked if I had been, say, in reservations, still.
