No official announcement by Sony yet, though. Which bugs me. We now know that Harold Ramis' production company is involved, though. Which is not surprising, since he loves the franchise (though not as verbal about it as Aykroyd).
Unofficial news can never REALLY be trusted, and there being no official news yet probably means that they're still discussing it. I don't think there's going to be a problem with it in the end once the most wealthy producers have asserted that their cocks are definitely the largest in the room. Ghostbusters 3 is bound to get a sizeable audience and you can also make money off merchandising; heck, it makes at least as much sense as the Buffy the Vampire Slayer reboot.
I think previous rumours (back in 1993, and some more recent ones, around 2002/2003) never got as far as "casting has started", though. And the fans have been let down so much in the past, that they are all cautious. I mean, also, just look at what nearly happened to The Hobbit, you'd think I'd learned my lesson?
Ramis, Aykroyd and Murray (why else did he show up at an award in full fan-made Venkman costume?) have all been hint-dropping, while Hudson has been faithfully hitting the convention circuit (as is his habit), and a Sony Italy rep has given good news at an Italian Ghostbusters convention a couple of months ago. Everyone (both involved directly, and fans) are saying that it's looking better than ever before, with everyone being as cautious as possible.
