I went to Change (OMG love that store!) and got fitted for bras this weekend.
As it turns out, I'm now a 40E (I can't recall the European size system... sorry for my friends in Europe)... O.o??? How did that happen? I could have sworn I was much larger at 40DD than I am now, and that was pre-surgery. But then, maybe I was wearing a bra that was inappropriate.
So... I bought two... one of them is more basic, ultra-comfortable, and aqua, and the other one is sexy, a bit lacy and black. The boyfriend loves both. Yeah, so, the straps are 3/4" wide, because they're made for big tatas, but they're both really cute, considering the straps are so wide.
Things I learned about bras this weekend (although I've been wearing them since I was 11):
- If you're in between two band sizes (that would be the number), it's better to go for the tighter fit, if it isn't too tight to the point of being uncomfortable, because bras do stretch a bit, even initially, to adjust to your body.
- Always buy a bra that is fitted at the biggest of the two or three sets of loops (for the hooks). Because they will stretch and you will get to wear them longer this way.
- If the cups seem a bit baggy, try to tighten the straps before reaching for a smaller cup size. It's possible the straps are too loose. If it's still baggy, you might not need a smaller cup, you might need a smaller band size. Play around with both until you find the right fit. (The same applies in reverse if it seems too small.)
- Although it seems a waste of money (OMG $38 and $48 for each of the two bras), a good quality, well-fitted bra is much better for you, especially if you're on the large side and tend to have upper back pains, and makes you feel FABULOUS!
- 60% of all women do not wear the right size bra. So get fitted, ladies!
