In which I geek out...
Nov. 22nd, 2010 05:15 pmI got Ghostbusters: Haunted Holidays, yesterday. It's the one with all the holiday one-shots published by IDW in the past year, including the one that came out last month (penciled by "Dapper" Dan Schoening), and including an Eatock/Schoening 9-page short, based on Thanksgiving.
Which was hilarious. The guy (James Eatock) is spot-on on characterization, which has the best of both worlds between the movie!verse and the cartoon!verse, same with his writing, and then he made it his own. And, as a bonus, it's got Dan Schoening's incredible artwork. Which is very stylized and cartoonish, but I'd watch a cartoon based on his character designs without a complaint. It would sure beat the The Real Ghostbusters character designs and colour schemes.
I laughed myself silly, reading the Thanksgiving short while eating a piece of strawberry-rhubarb crumble pie, with
jpwic (aka, the best boyfriend in the world, because not only does he endure my fannish-ness without a complaint, he actually encourages it!) across the table from me, enjoying watching me laugh.
