Now that the novocaine has worn off...
Oct. 6th, 2010 01:20 pmI still get pain, but it's intense, takes up your whole mind, episodes that last anywhere from 5 to 20 minutes. Last night, they were roughly 30 to 45 minutes apart, and today, they are a few hours apart.
Pressing my jaws together will generate a sensation that will vary between a weird pressure to a sharp, electric shock-type jolt of pain, mostly it's the pressure thing or mild, itch-like pain.
Ibuprofen is working better than yesterday, at any rate, and I had one bad episode since arriving at the office and promptly doused my gum in benzocaine solution (yay for Orajel, the best stuff EVER!), and by the time the numbness wore off, the pain episode was over.
Warm things like my hand against my cheek, hot drinks and soup feel the best on it, and even will rid me of the pain on the milder scale of things. Nothing helps much with the sharp pain except riding it out, and, fortunately, those episodes are getting shorter as well.
Still, I can't wait for next Tuesday and the whole procedure to be done with. Because I might have these pain episodes on and off until the tooth is filled up.
