So...
Egon's been an injury magnet lately.
In the annual, he gets a cut on his face from the Sandman trying to steal his eye (I hope his tetanus inoculations were up to date, because that knife looked rusty as fuck).
And in Ghostbusters International issue 1 (which is issue 1 of Volume 3) he gets a nasty acid burn on his thigh and is basically walking with a cane later on in the issue, when he gets out of hospital. He's also stuck at home while he heals. And home is not the Firehouse, no, he has a small apartment elsewhere.
Also, this comic answers the question "Boxers or briefs?" Doctor Spengler wears boxers.
He also may or may not have suffered food poisoning in this issue, according to a comment Peter made, which may have only been to hide Egon's injury from Walter Peck.
