John and I are trying to have a baby, and I'm currently on a "get pregnant soon, or we're putting you on Metformin" schedule from the doctor.

Of COURSE I have to have a yeast infection right now, at the start of my fertile period. *shakes fist*

Fuck you, body! Fuck you!

Aahhhhh so much the best of luck!

Gilly and I are planning on trying, too. Of course, for us, it was never going to be simple.

It can take time! At the clinic, they say they'd move on to trying IVF if the first 4-5 inseminations don't take; with another clinic it was 6 tries; and on public they want you to "try" for 12 months before they refer you to a clinic. Of course we kind of can't "try" at home because we're looking at an anonymous donor. Also it turns out same-sex couples aren't covered by state insurance. So we haven't tried yet, but we're having tests done.

I would go for that IVF as soon as you can swing it! Or are you trying it already? It bypasses all sorts of problems conceiving. We've been reading up a lot as well as talking to other people trying and doctors.

The testing we are doing now is going to be around 600 euros and every insemination from 500 up, depending on how we do it. It will be much more expensive at a clinic. Cheaper options include ordering it illegally from Denmark or taking a day trip there.

Ick. That's more than it costs here. Your age might be the reason you're having trouble, though it shouldn't make it impossible. I would pressure your doc to give you the referral. It's just a hormone treatment, harvesting, and then implantation... They didn't make it sound that bad when we talked about it.
