I have problems with incompetence. I really have problems with incompetence. And, if you're in a management position, and you show yourself incompetent, I will question your position. Even if you're my boss.
Last year, someone closed off a whole month on a product, we're not sure why. That person was the person in charge of this destination, who is currently on vacation, and who has been moved to work on another destination.
I'm temporarily assigned said destination, because no one else wants to deal with it, because it's a long and tenuous job to do, and I happen to be the overflow person, partially by choice, because I like doing different things, every once in awhile. It's a bit les monotonous, especially in data entry.
So, I was made aware of the issue this morning. And I fixed it right away. I lost 30 minutes of hard data entry fixing something I hadn't done to begin with.
Three hours later, our manager sends me and the lead person an email asking about the situation. I explain that we don't know why it was closed off, but we re-opened it, and all now pulls up for reservations.
She then asks me who usually takes care of putting things on stop sale and whatnot. I reply that, and this is important to the story, some categories are linked directly to the supplier's calendar and update themselves, while the others are always on request and should not have stop sales put into them, as verified with the operations department.
A few hours later, I get the following email:
Well, I just checked with operations and certain categories update with the calendar, while the others are on requests only and we aren't supposed to add stop sales to them... Did you know this?
Which is a beat-around-the-bush way of asking me why I put it on stop sale to begin with.
However.
That was exactly what I had replied to her in the email she replied to me to ask me this question.
Here is what I wanted to reply to her.
First: Did you read my email?
Second: You're a big girl, and a boss, one would assume you have access to the system. Therefore, you should have verified, and seen, by now, that I wasn't the one who put it on stopsale, as our namestamps, datestamp and timestamp all appear on the stopsale entry page. I don't want to be telling you how to do your job, but you do yours and I'll do mine, isn't that a great idea? My job, at this point, was to re-open something smeone else had closed. Period. It's done, it's over, let it go and let's move on, I have other things to do, like enter the gazillion other prices for this destination.
What I did instead was stalk off to lead's office and start hissing like an angry goose, neck outstretched and wings flapping. Lead read my most recent reply, and her last reply, then went: The hell is this??? Okay, let me take care of it. I'll reply to her.
His reply was: Yes, this is exactly what she told you. We don't know why the other person put it on stopsale for that whole month, but it was fixed it this morning.
*flails angrily*
