But after the premiere last night, I was pooped.
Okay, so... I will try to remain unspoilerish, as much as possible.
Master And Commander was a GREAT movie. It's very action-minded, as well as oriented to showing what the lifetime of sailors in the early 1800s was.
I saw it in French, so I will not comment on the actual acting until I manage to see it in English, as the intonations of the actors either makes or kills a movie for me. And the voice acting was alright for Mr Crowe (with his usual French French voice actor), but sucked for Mr Boyd... (they used the same voice actor as for Pippin, and the man neglected to put his voice in a lower octave, with the result that we had a weathered sailor who sounded like a young Hobbit... like, ew...)
Billy, if you took out the rotten teeth factor, looked very hot and manly (for those who are interested), except for a few scenes where he looked like he was straining to steer the ship proper, and then he pulled funny faces. He had one or two Pippin moments where he pulled happy and/or confused faces, so there was some cuteness there. I particularly enjoyed the off-white and dark pink pinstriped pants *points and laughs* but the nice view of his bum in them pants in the beginning (he kept them on, though) made up for it...
The music was all classic or just about, and you had some sailor songs (Billy did not participate, and they were dubbed anyways).
One small disclaimer, if you don't like gore/blood/puke/views of a man doing surgery on himself, it's not worth going to the theater just to see Billy, just wait until it comes out in DVD.
It's still a movie I would've gone and watched even if Billy wouldn't have been in it, because it looked good in the trailers, and there's the whole Russell Crowe factor as well (hmmmm... Gladiator...).
